Sir Patrick Moore, astronomer and star of UK gaming show GamesMaster has sadly died at the age of 89.
According to friends and colleagues the broadcaster passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon in Selsey, West Sussex.
Sir Patrick will be fondly remembered by gamers for his pre-recorded appearances as the 'GamesMaster' in the UK television show of the same name.
GamesMaster was the first ever UK television show dedicated to video games and ran between 1992 and 1998. A new series of GamesMaster was recently said to be being "explored".
Host Dominik Diamond said via Twitter: "What? He also did a show about planets? I just did the puerile gags. But he WAS the Gamesmaster. RIP Sir Patrick Moore, a true original."
GamesMaster the publication added: "Terribly sad news today as Sir Patrick Moore - aka the GamesMaster - has passed away. A true legend and one we'll greatly miss."
