Layoffs hit Rift studio Trion Worlds

12th Dec 2012 | 12:56

Up to a third of the development team working on Trion Worlds MMO Rift was laid off on Tuesday, according to Gamasutra.

One of those affected by the layoffs told the site that around 40 developers across a range of disciplines had been cut.

While Trion wouldn't confirm specifics, it did acknowledge that a number of layoffs had been made "in response to market conditions, product timelines and the natural evolution of our company".

Trion recently moved work on massively multiplayer real-time strategy game End of Nations to its in-house San Diego studio following layoffs at developer Petroglyph.
