ZombiU was one of the most anticipated launch titles for the Wii U, but despite the hype early reviews were damning. Producer Guillaume Brunier was obviously displeased by this.
CVG rated ZombiU a score of 8.4, but other reviewers weren't so kind. Many criticised the action controls and clunky combat.
In an interview with Nintendo Life, ZombiU producer Guillaume Brunier said "we never hid ourselves," when asked if people were unhappy that the survival horror element took precedent over the FPS action.
Brunier also revealed that "we were really disappointed with the early US reviews. We are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the experience we created but we did not expect so harsh a feedback."
Brunier and the team soon realised though, that these opinions were not felt en-masse. "As more and more journalists and gamers played the game, these opinions proved to be a minority. So right now we're rather pleased with the overall reception of the game."
