Minecraft sales hit 17.5 million

Indie game phenomenon Minecraft has sold about 17.5 million copies across all platforms.

Developer Mojang said this week that five million copies of Minecraft Pocket Edition have been sold.

The studio claimed earlier this month that Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition had sold almost 4.5 million copies, while the original PC version of the sandbox building game cleared eight million sales in November.

The next Minecraft update will be released in January.
