Square Enix has released an extended trailer and a helping of new screens for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the third and final chapter in the Final Fantasy XIII series of titles.

In Lightning Returns the FFXIII heroine finds herself trying to stop the end of the world before a doomsday clock on a 13 day timer reaches zero.

While the first FFXIII featured a linear story path and FFXIII-2 allowed players to select how the story developed through decisions, Lightning Returns is "World Driven", meaning you'll have to consider how to interact with the changing world as it has a direct impact on events.
