War of the Overworld has become the latest Kickstarter success story, having accumulated £211,000 in funds as the deadline passed.
Development studio Subterranean Games originally sought £150,000 to fund the game, which is described as "a mix of real time strategy and god game. Influenced by Dungeon Keeper, Overlord, StarCraft and Evil Genius."
It even earned the support of original Dungeon Keeper creator Peter Molyneux, who said: "Dungeon Keeper has to be remade. It has to be remade by people who love it and the Kickstarter campaign for War For The Overworld is the campaign to support if you want to see Dungeon Keeper back."
A Steam Greenlight page for the game has also been established.
War of the Overworld is due for PC and Mac release by the end of August.
