Valve: no current plans to announce Steam Box in 2013

Engineer claims reported statements were inaccurate

The Valve hardware engineer who reportedly announced last month that Valve would reveal its own Steam Box in 2013 has claimed the reports were inaccurate.

Speaking to Engadget, Ben Krasnow said he did not specify a 2013 reveal during his speech at the German tech conference, despite reports by that he did.

"With regards to the Steam Box news - there has been a lot of things that we are working on getting Steam into the living room, and are planning for a hardware box, but we have no current plans to announce anything in 2013," he said.

Krasnow's clarification coincides with new info provided by Gabe Newell about Valve's Steam Box, which confirms that the product does indeed exist, and will be different to the already announced Project Piston box and other similar third party products. Newell didn't offer a release window during that interview.
