Dead Rising 2 dev working two unannounced projects

"Open-world action games" in the works, one featuring "no zombies"

Capcom Vancouver, developer of Dead Rising 2 and spin-offs/prologues is hard at work on two unannounced projects, it has revealed.

One game is teased on a general recruitment post on the developer's official website, which reads, "Capcom has one of the industry's greatest back catalogs but for our next project we've been given the opportunity to create Capcom's next big game."

Still "early in the development process", the post drops no hints about the game other than ending with the note, "PS... no zombies" - possibly hinting at a new IP.

We can only assume that's a message for Dead Rising hopefuls, but that's seemingly only in reference to one of two games which are in development.

"Capcom Vancouver is growing! We have two unannounced projects in play," reads a separate LinkedIn listing for a UI software engineer vacancy at the studio, unearthed by OXM.

"We need the help of smart, passionate and dedicated people to help us make our open world action games," it adds, confirming the genre and this time without any dismissal of zombies.

After over a year of silence, Dead Rising 3 was this week discovered listed on the CV of an animation studio rigger, who claimed to have worked on game cinematics for the unannounced title in 2012.

According to year-old rumours, the third game is to be set in the fictional city of Los Perdidos, in California, and will star a new protagonist, auto mechanic Rick, who's locked down in the city under martial law following the zombie outbreak.
