Amazon Instant Video goes live on Wii in US

Download the app free via the US Wii Shop Channel

The Amazon Instant Video service has gone line on Wii in North America.

Amazon Instant Video offers 140,000 movies and TV episodes to purchase or rent via online streaming.

The necessary app can be downloaded now via the Wii Shop Channel, which gives you access to all the available content as well as full Watchlist options.

There's no word on when the service will arrive in other regions.

In October 2012 Nintendo of America cut the Wii price to $129.99, offering the black version of the console with a Wii Remote Plus, a Nunchuk controller, plus Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort on one disc.

NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime has said the company plans to continue supporting the Nintendo Wii for some time to come despite the arrival of its newly-released Wii U.
