Audio: 'Download kiosks and specialisation' could fix HMV

A year ago, when GAME first went into administration, PSM3 debated how to 'fix' High St games retail on its podcast with Matt Castle, Andrew Kelly and myself.
What we all agreed on, was that the old model was no longer working - and looked at lessons to be learned from elsewhere on the high street and beyond. Ideas included soft drink-vending style, unmanned, 'download' kiosks, a more boutique environment and an emphasis on specialisation and customisation - to learn the lessons of the 'Build a Bear Company' and the power of the 'hand-written' note.
Marketing Week, only this morning, made similar claims for the future of the HMV brand - but we took it a lot further.
