Capcom bringing 3DS retail games to US eShop

Publisher to embrace Nintendo's digital-retail sales policy

Capcom has said it is preparing to adopt Nintendo's 3DS retail digital sales initiative in the US.

According to senior VP Christian Svensson, the publisher is preparing to make a number of its previously-released retail-only 3DS offerings available for purchase via the digital 3DS eShop, as Nintendo has been doing with first-party titles since last year.

The release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 in August 2012 kicked off the new initiative at Nintendo, which sees first-party 3DS titles get simultaneous retail and digital releases.

"Many of our our other previously released 3DS titles will be coming to the eShop in the coming months," said Svensson in response to online questioning over a Resident Evil Revelations digital release.

Although it's unclear, Svensson's stipulation of those being 'other' titles insinuates that Resident Evil Revelations will not be among those planned for digital releases.

Resident Evil Revelations is, however, heavily rumoured to be bound for Xbox and PS3, as outed by Korean Ratings Board listings and later backed up by an alleged list of Xbox Achievements for a 'Resident Evil Revelations Unveiled Edition'.
