Nintendo's online social network, Miiverse, will be available to view from smartphones within a matter of months.
Company president Satoru Iwata revealed the new accessibility during a Nintedno Direct press conference in which he also announced a string of new games for the console.
Initially, the Miiverse experience on smartphones will be accessed only via mobile web browsers, but Iwata confirmed plans were in place to create a dedicated Miiverse app - likely on Android and the App Store.
Miiverse - which serves as both a social network and fan-made FAQ hub - will also be updated to improve functionality.
