Hordes of the Underdark - first shot, details
14th Aug 2003 | 11:20
Neverwinter Nights fans will remember that first mention of expansion Hordes of the Underdark was made back in November 2002, when first details on add-on Shadows of Undrentide came to light. Now some ninth months later, information on the Underdark expansion is starting to appear.
While we're so far being denied access to full, glorious information on the expansion, small snippets are making themselves known like a gnome with a bad case of gas.
Hordes of the Underdark's storyline involves Drow, in fact one Drow in particular who heads up an army of vile, despicable creatures of the Underdark intent on wreaking havoc in the kingdom of Waterdeep. Yikes!
No prizes for guessing that it's down to you to meet this army head-on with might of arm and mind and save the day. The new campaign or adventure is apparently geared toward characters of 15-plus level.
Players will either be able to create adventurers of the required power in the expansion's character generation system or bring across protagonists from the original Neverwinter Nights or first add-on Shadows of Undrentide.
BioWare raising the experience point cap, Hordes of the Underdark will also allow characters to reach the giddy heights of level 40. [Whoa there! - Ed.]
Accompanying the new campaign and the new experience cap will be the likes of new monsters, new titlesets (the majority of these will, not surprisingly, be specific to the Underdark setting), new spells such as ball lightning and iron guts, new weapons, more henchmen, six new classes and a whole lot more.
BioWare will be dishing out more Hordes of the Underdark details soon, but in the meantime you can check out the one of the first screenshots officially released for public consumption right here.
