ECTS 2003: Advent Rising, and the goose is getting fat

Not to be confused with anything remotely festive, Advent Rising is a future sci-fi third-person blaster. So there. And it's based on the writings of award winning novelist, Orson Scott Card, who is also writing a book about the game.

In Advent Rising, there's a common legend in the galaxy, that of a powerful, ancient race that will one day unite the universe. Millions of cultures from vastly distant worlds revere and hallow these mythological beings known as, erm, humans.

Oh yes. That'll be us then. One race, the Seekers, know humans actually exist and are threatened by their potential power. So under the guise of benevolent explorers, the Seekers travel throughout the galaxy in a desperate attempt to eradicate any human society they unearth.

You take the role of Gideon Wyeth, a remnant of the last human outpost, on the brink of discovering the incredible powers that lay dormant within him.

In development by GlyphX Games, Advent Rising is a third-person, intergalactic action-adventure frolic. And as it's built on the Unreal Warfare engine, it's looking pretty swish on both Xbox and PC. Check out these shots until Vivendi release the game in Europe some time in 2004.
