Animal Crossing gets Oz release date

15th Sep 2003 | 13:09

It's been a long time coming and most Animal Crossing starved PAL-punters probably imported this yonks ago if they really wanted it. Nonetheless, the date that Ninty fans the length and breadth of Australia can play this feast of fur-based fun has been revealed.

From October 17, our perpetually cheerful Aussie friends will be able to play this like-The-Sims-but cuter title. Some might argue that Nintendo's decision to release the title in a country where there's no longer enough demand for a GameCube magazine to be published is an odd one. Because it is.

Still, we guess that if you've been waiting for a PAL version, you can at least import this from Australia now, safe in the knowledge it'll work on your machine. The downside, of course, being that Christmas will come in June, and the characters will spend much of their time downing tinnies and attending barbies.

Still no word on a Euro release for Animal Crossing, but if it happens - and we can't imagine for a moment that it will - we'll let you know.
