A full trailer for the title was today released on the Japanese PSN, revealing the Japan Studio game to be a "rescue" multiplayer action title set for release in 2014, SGCafe reports.
Freedom Wars is set some 100,000 years in the future in a world called Panopticon. The trailer switches between present day London and the future setting, where the human population and precious resources like oil have significantly decreased.
In contrast, the prison population, the amount of guns, deaths from war and the number of surveillance cameras have exploded.
The dystopian future presented suggests that prisoners are sentenced to fighting giant monsters.
SCEE senior business development manager Shahid Kamal Ahmad said earlier this month that the platform holder is gearing up to announce a major new Vita game. Whether he was referring to Freedom Wars isn't yet clear, but SCEE trademarked Panopticon earlier this year, suggesting that the title is intended for international release.
