At Friday's Nintendo Direct conference, Nintendo confirmed that the HD pack would hit its latest console on August 8 in Japan. International Wii U launch plans for the release haven't been announced.

The Wii U release will mark the first time the series has appeared on a non-Sony platform. The Wii U edition will support GamePad features such as a touch screen map and off-screen play.
PS3 exclusive Yakuza 5 released in Japan last December and sold 357,000 copies in its debut week, which was more than the combined total of the top three Wii U launch games. Western launch plans for the title haven't been confirmed.
